Initiated in 2018, these tariffs ー from broad duties on Chinese goods to levies on steel and aluminum imports ー are largely still in effect today The Biden administration has left in place over $300billion worth of Trump-era tariffs on Chinese imports, maintaining rates of 7.5% to 25% on products ranging from apparel to machinery. Washington ultimately imposed tariffs on over $250billion worth of Chinese exports, while Beijing retaliated with tariffs on about $110billion of U.S. goods. China’s targets ranged from soybeans and automobiles to commercial aircraft and chemicals, hitting major American exports.
